Reflections of Solo
"May 1998"
May 98, gloomy history of economic and political crisis in Indonesia. This short story is too much to told. The fiery spirit that imprisoned in everyone's heart long time ago had blown. Demonstration became an unstopable chaos. That event be a marker of Suharto regime which last for 32 years, collapsed.
Solo, one of many cities which felt the gloomy day of the incident. Building and stores are silent witnesses.
Post-reform, Solo is undergoing various changes over time. In this photo project, I explain the history of Solo city trip through a visual data record of documentary works "Sunaryo Haryo Bayu" which was a senior photographer of the Harian Solopos newspaper. Reflecting (among) the "May 1998" riot in the "Orde Baru" and "Reformasi" era.
Each series in the form of a Dipthyc series with the moments that I captured, I compared photos from photographer Sunaryo Haryo Bayu in 1998. The photos was taken during the riots of the reformation and compared with photos of the condition from the city of Solo in 2017.
